The cultural foundation Castrum Peregrini offers unique possibilities for accomodation in a cultural environment in Amsterdam. In its buildings alongside the famous Herengracht canal it houses an exhibition space, the office of the foundation, and several historic interiors amongst which the authentic safe house apartment of WWII, representing the origins of Castrum Peregrini.
Three independent apartments are adapted to modern standards for work and leisure purposes. 1 – ‘Sabine & Walther Euler’ apartment
Completely renovated early 2016. A modern and light apartment with two separate double bedrooms. Suitable for four persons sharing the kitchen and bathroom. The apartment has a new large bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. And a large kitchen/dining area overlooking the Herengracht at the crossing with Leidsegracht. Bedroom one has a comfortable king-size bed which guarantees a good night’s rest. Bedroom two has two separate single beds, these can also be combined into a double bed. This apartment offers excellent possibilities for experiencing the Amsterdam city centre for scholars, writers and artists seeking contemplation.
Special features: the apartment is decorated with art from the collection of the late collectors Sabine and Walther Euler Kunsemuller, restorator and art historian. It is located on one of the most central spots in the old city centre. The apartment is on the ground floor, there is only the steps to the front door that are typical for all the 17th century houses in Amsterdam. There is a walk-in closet in each bedroom. 2 – Canal View Studio
Situated on the first floor with five windows overlooking the most beautiful canal junction in the historic city centre make this modern minimalist loft appartment in a 17th century monument a most wanted location to enjoy Amsterdam at its very best! The apartment has a queensize double bed and the sofa can be transformed in a single bed. Ideal for couples with one child. Good and free Wi-Fi available.
3 – Canal Room Apartment
With a cosy and very light bedroom, with a double bed (queen size) and again a stunning view on the canals. This apartment has a kitchen in the fifties style, in the decades after the war this was the dining room of the founders of Castrum Peregrini: Gisèle and Wolfgang Frommel with their former hiders. Recently a new private bathroom has been realized, with shower, sink and toilet.
This apartment is on the second floor, and can house one or two persons.
Special features: stylish (retro) spaces, with authentic pieces of late artist Gisèle. One can feel the unique atmosphere she created. Good and free Wi-Fi available.
